Dorothea Marcella Hogue, 88, of Mt. Vernon, died 5:15 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at Nature Trail Health Care Center in Mt. Vernon.
She was born Friday, Dec. 12, 1924, in Mt. Vernon, the daughter of Roy E. Stout, Sr. and Hazel (Johnson) Stout. She married Earl Owen Hogue, Jr. on Sept. 1, 1940, and he preceded her in death on March 15, 1996.
Dorothea had been employed as a dietary worker for the Tuberculosis Sanitarium, Mt. Vernon Township High School and Murray Center before retirement. She was a member of Park Avenue Baptist Church and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
She is survived by daughter, Kay Curtis and husband Tom of Collinsville; sons, Bill Hogue and wife Carol of Mt. Vernon and Herman Hogue and wife Mary of Jackson, Mo.; daughter, Dottye Shepherd and husband David of Charleston; seven grandchildren, Brent Shapiro of Collinsville, Carol Woehrle of Springfield, Mo., Bob Hogue of Honolulu, Mike Hogue of Mt. Vernon, Tom Hogue and wife Laura of Harvest, Ala., Chase Hogue of Jackson, Mo. and Maura Shepherd of Charleston; sister-in-law, Alma Donoho of Tampa, Fla.; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers; and one sister.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Park Avenue Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon with the Rev. Gary Davenport officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn.
Visitation will be from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Park Avenue Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon.
