Jack Carlyle Goddard Jr., 65, of Mt. Vernon, died at 9:42 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at Crossroads Community Hospital in Mt. Vernon.
He was born April 26, 1947, in Jefferson County, the son of Lilian (LeVault) and Jack Carlyle Goddard Sr. He was married to Cynthia Kiselewski Spears.
He is survived by a special friend, Christine Campbell of Mt. Vernon; two sons, Thomas Jack Goddard and girlfriend Chelsey Campbell of Mt. Vernon, and Bobby Jack Goddard of Florida; two daughters, Jacque Green of Mt. Vernon and Crystal Goddard and special friend Lance McGovern of Mt. Vernon; stepdaughter, Tina Porter of Mt. Vernon; four grandchildren, Dustin Johnson, Brittany Johnson, Brooklyn Bushong and Ryder Bushong, all of Mt. Vernon; stepgrandson, Derek Burwell of Mt. Vernon; two sisters, Teresa Gilbert of Maryland and Patricia Leisch of Florida; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Janet Crum.
Jack served our country in the United States Air Force. He worked as a self-employed welder and also worked for Southern Illinois Fence. Jack was a member of the Mt. Vernon Gun and Sportsman Club and the Mt. Vernon American Legion Post 141.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, at Smith-Veterans Cemetery in Jefferson County with American Legion Chaplain Ernie Collins officiating. Interment will be in Smith-Veterans Cemetery with members of Mt. Vernon American Legion Post 141 conducting full military honors at the cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, at the Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Goddard Family and will be accepted at the funeral home.
