MT. VERNON —
Arthur Fico, 90, of Nason, passed away 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at his home in Nason.
Arthur was born Oct. 10, 1922, in Tamaroa, a son of Joseph and Lucille (Beltramone) Fico. He married Esther Marcella (Higgins) on Aug. 11, 1951, in Ina; she preceded him in death on Aug. 28, 2002.
Arthur worked for several years for the Southern Pacific Railroad, then worked for Jack McDonald Trucking as a diesel mechanic. He retired from Precision National in Mt. Vernon, where he worked from 1968-1984. He was of the Christian faith.
He is survived by four sons, James R. Higgins of Lake of Egypt, Earl F. Hale of Watsonville, Calif., Joseph L. Fico of Bonnie, and Darrell A. Fico and wife Cindy of Jupiter, Fla.; two daughters, Elizabeth Baltzell and husband Lester of Bonnie and Annabelle Fico of Nason; 14 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Esther Marcella Fico; three sons, Paul Hale, who was killed in Vietnam, Arthur Ray Fico and Michael Fico; brother, Raymond Fico; grandson, Robert Duncan; daughter-in-law, Jan Higgins; and also his son-in-law, Jack Carter.
Graveside funeral services for Arthur Fico will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Woodlawn with Pastor Tim Reynolds officiating. Friends are asked to go directly to the cemetery on Thursday morning.
