Eleanor Leila Wielt, 92, of Kansas City, Mo., and formerly of Mt. Vernon, passed away Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at Wilshire at Lakewood in Lee’s Summit, Mo.
She was born Wednesday, May 19, 1920, in Mt. Vernon, to Morton and Birdie Louella (Martini) Clark.
She married Bud Edward Wielt on Aug. 9, 1941, in Old Monroe, Miss., and he preceded her in death on July 22, 2000.
Eleanor was a homemaker and a devoted wife to Bud. She loved needlework and crocheting and was very generous with her handmade quilts.
She is survived by two daughters, Rebecca Wielt Baker and husband John H.W. of Kansas City, Mo., and Judith Ann Cheek and husband Dewey of Atlanta, Ga.; four grandchildren, Stephan John Lueke and wife Juliana of Lee’s Summit, Mo., Tobias Lueke of Kansas City, Mo., Miranda Crow and husband John of Tulsa, Okla., and Ryan Cheek and wife Savannah of Atlanta, Ga.; seven great-grandchildren, Matthew Lueke, Hayden Lueke, Lucy Eleanor Lueke, Neko Lueke, Oscar Lueke, Taylor Crow and Mackenzie Crow; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Her parents; her husband; her twin brother, Eugene Clark and his wife Ruth; and one nephew, Bill Clark of Mt. Vernon preceded her in death.
A graveside service was held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, at Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon. No visitation was held.
Interment was at Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon.
