Mary Marie Wilson, 97, of Mt. Vernon, died 8:10 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, at Mt. Vernon Countryside Manor in Mt. Vernon.
She was born May 21, 1915, in Union County, daughter of James Ford and Laura Belle “Standfield”. She married Claude Wilson on Feb. 18, 1935, in Cairo, and he preceded her in death on April 5, 1985.
She and her husband were foster parents. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and she was active in mission work. She taught Sunday School for over 50 years.
She is survived by three sons, Donald Kelley of Nashville, Tenn., James Kelley of Elgin and Jerry Rice of Colorado; daughter, Margie McBride of Arizona; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Screlda Matin of Daytona, Fla.; two nephews, Benjamin Martin of Sterling and James Martin of Daytona, Fla.; and niece, Annetta Ford of California.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son, Paul Kelley; daughter, Mary Gregory; and four brothers, Everett, Floyd, George and Wendell Ford.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Osborn Funeral Home in Dix with the Rev. Kenneth Holland officiating. Interment will be at Old Union Cemetery in Mt. Vernon.
Visitation will be from noon until the time of service at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Wilson family and will be accepted at the funeral home.
