Joan Ruth (Barker) Riley, 80, of Mt. Vernon, passed away at 11:50 a.m. Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at Mt. Vernon Countryside Manor.
She was born Aug. 9, 1932, in Mt. Vernon, the daughter of Juel Harvey and Eva Fae (Wilson) Barker. She married Glenn William Riley, and he survives.
Mrs. Riley was a member of the First Church of God in Mt. Vernon and a life membership in the WCG (Women of the Church of God). Mrs. Riley had worked at Florsheim Shoe Company for several years and at Opal’s Cafe.
Mrs. Riley is survived by three brothers, Juell Lindy Barker and wife Vera of Welton, Ariz., twin brother, Loren Bruce Barker and wife Janet of Salem and Marvin Window Barker and wife Alice of Cookeville, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by an infant sister, Jo Ellen Barker.
Funeral services for Mrs. Riley will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the First Church of God in Mt. Vernon with Pastor Jack Harper officiating. Burial will follow in the Barker Cemetery in Broughton.
Visitation will be after 10 a.m. Friday at the First Church of God.
For those who wish, memorials may be made in Mrs. Riley’s memory to the First Church of God Building Fund.
