Paula “Polly” Dulaney, 80, of Mt. Vernon, passed away at 9:37 p.m. Monday, July 14, 2008, at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.
She was born in Sterling, Colo., on Thursday, Sept. 27, 1927, a daughter of Ronald and Harriet Edith (Whitacre) McCracken. She married Bobby Gene “Bob” Dulaney on May 20, 1951, in Mt. Vernon.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with the Rev. David Eadie officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Polly is survived by her husband, Bob G. Dulaney of Mt. Vernon; two sons, Richard Dulaney and wife Mary of Cissna Park, Ill., and Michael Dulaney and wife Darla of Mackinaw, Ill.; five grandchildren, Daniel Dulaney, Lisa Dulaney, Douglas Ebinger and wife Alissa, La-Rae Chilton and husband Kyle and Patrick Dulaney; and five great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Alexa and Brianna Ebinger, Dillon Barnewolt and Bryson Chilton.
Her parents preceded her in death.
Polly was a librarian at the C.E. Brehm Memorial Library in Mt. Vernon and at the Mt. Vernon Junior College. Prior to that she was a librarian and was on the founding staff of Rend Lake College on Sept. 1, 1967. She was a member of the Little Egypt Roadrunners camping group, the Jefferson County Historical Society, was an active member of First United Methodist Church and of the Senior Circle of the church.
