MT. VERNON —
Chris Todd Carter of Crestview, Fla., passed away in his sleep Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012.
He was born Dec. 9, 1962, in Mt. Vernon, to Connie Boyd and John Carter.
He is survived by his wife Tami Lewis Carter of Crestview, Fla.; his children, Christopher Carter, wife Brittany and unborn grandson Christian of Mt. Vernon; Nikki, Charlie, Amy, and Kyla Carter of Crestview, Fla.; sister Tiffany Muniz and husband Sergio of Melbourne, Fla.; sister Jordyn Wright and husband Brandon of Destin, Fla.; his mother, Connie Boyd and husband Gage of Destin, Fla.; and father John Carter and wife Jo of Niceville, Fla.; grandmother Pauline Edmison of Bluewater Bay, Fla.; granddaughter Sadie Carter, nephew Sergio Muniz and nieces Alexandria Muniz, Hadley Wright and Brandi Karlek.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Raymond Edmison; and sister, Dawn Carter.
Chris graduated from Mt. Vernon Township High School in 1981 and was a member of Summerville Baptist Church in Mt Vernon. He was employed at Creek Enterprise as district manager. He was blessed with a great sense of humor, enjoyed being with good friends and was always ready to help others.
He loved fishing, metal detecting and researching the facts and details of interesting people, places and things. One of his discoveries was Glendale Memorial Nature Preserve in Defuniak Springs, Fla., and he had chosen this for his final resting place.
There will be a private graveside service to honor his wishes. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Shalimar United Methodist Church. In celebration, a bike run will be held Saturday morning at 10 a.m., meeting at the edge in Niceville, kick stands up at 11 a.m. We love you Chris! You will be missed!
