MT. VERNON — —
Margie E. Dale, 91, of Mt. Vernon, died 9:15 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mt. Vernon.
She was born Monday, Feb. 13, 1922, in Bluford, the daughter of Archie and Pearl (Moore) Body. She married J.R. "Bob" Dale on July 10, 1944, in Quantico, Va. and he preceded her in death on Nov. 8, 1999.
Margie was a full time school teacher in Bluford for many years and was a substitute teacher all over Jefferson County and even taught in one room schoolhouses. Later in her life, she traveled with her husband Bob to various harness racing tracks in the Midwest and in the eastern U.S. She and Bob retired in 1973, and took trips with friends in their motorhome. She was a wonderful vegetable and flower gardener and enjoyed square-dancing and bowling in her earlier years.
She is survived by son, Danny Dale and wife Deborah of East Windsor, N.J,; three grandchildren, John Dale of Philadelphia, Kimberly Dale and fiancé Tyson Chamberlain of Mt. Vernon and Stacie Scott of Mt. Vernon; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon with the Rev. Merle Fullerton officiating. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
