Derek Blaine Houle, 37, of Bluford, died 8:54 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2013, in Nashville.
He was born Monday, June 23, 1975, in Centralia, the son of Randy Houle and Carla (Gutzler) Bryant.
Derek was self-employed in the tree service industry.
He is survived by his father, Randy Houle and wife Helen of Eldridge; mother, Carla Bryant and husband Rusty of Bluford; daughter, Destani of Mt. Vernon; fiancee, Kimberly Hails and her children, Zoe and Azriel of Mascoutah; four sisters, Chandra Ballard of Woodlawn, Ciejay Simms of Mt. Vernon, Jamie Houle of Terre Haute, Ind. And Ciera Houle of Terre Haute; five brothers, Brandon Houle of Bluford, Chad Houle and wife Ashley of Belle Rive, Joshua Houle and wife Kayla of Marshall, Zachary Houle of Terre Haute, Ind. And Jeremiah Houle of Indianapolis; stepbrother, Rusty Bryant, Jr. of Christopher; maternal grandfather, Robert DeJournett of Bluford; paternal grandparents, James and Doris Newbury of Bluford; great-aunt, Norma Jean Lane of Bluford; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Wilma Jean Gutzler; stepgrandmother, Charlotte Bryant; maternal grandfather, Louis Carl Gutzler; and his son Journey passed away with him.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Central Christian Church in Mt. Vernon with Mr. Marty Mills officiating. Interment will be at Bethel Memorial Cemetery in Mt. Vernon.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Central Christian Church in Mt. Vernon.
