MT. VERNON — —
Nancy Lee Caudle Stanley, 78, of Homer, passed away at 2:50 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, at Presence Covenant Medical Center in Urbana.
Mrs. Stanley was born June 20, 1934, in Bonnie, a daughter of Marlin Cavey and Bonnie Ennis Palmer Caudle.
Nancy attended and graduated from “House of James” beauty school in Danville in 1964. She had Nancy’s Beauty Salon in her home in Homer for 14 years. She also had a shop in Georgia from 1978 to 1990. She also worked in Georgia as a power and steam engineer with Procter and Gamble.
She moved back to Homer in 1990 to be closer to her family. Nancy was an avid reader. She loved gardening and travel. And she was delighted to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by daughter, Kathy Danner of Champaign; a son, Aaron Stanley of Omaha, Ark.; a granddaughter whom she raised as a daughter, Elizabeth Stanley Hite of Sidney; grandchildren, Nancy Danner (Will) Logan of Urbana, Diana Lee (Matt) Baxter of Tuscola, Rachael Spencer of Statesville, N.C., Louis (Christina) Stanley of Paxton, Aaron Lee Stanley Jr. of Homer and Kaitlen Stanley of Omaha, Ark. She is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren. She took into her heart as grandchildren, Addie, Connor and Emma Gray. Other survivors include a sister, Sherrill “Pug” (Jim) Williams of Woodlawn; sister-in-law, Doris Csaudle of Dixon; and her dearest friend, Doris Danner of Homer.
She was preceded in death by her son, Lowell Thomas Stanley Jr.; and brother, Marlin Edward Caudle.
Visitation was held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, at Kirby Funeral Home, 708 S. Main St., Homer. Cremation rites will be accorded. There is no service or burial.
