Yvonne Williams, 64, of Dix and a former resident of Mt. Vernon, passed away 10:01 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mt. Vernon.
Yvonne was born Aug. 22, 1948, in Mt. Vernon, the daughter of James Cornel and Verdell (Tucker) Peoples. She married Albert Williams on July 14, 1972, in Mt. Vernon, and he preceded her in death.
She was a member of the Pavey Chapel C.M.E. in Mt. Vernon. She worked for twenty one years at Dowzer Electric until failing health.
Yvonne is survived by her son, Keith Peoples of Mt. Vernon; daughter, Brittany Williams of Milwaukee, Wis.; sister, Violet Woods of Mt. Vernon; brother, James Peoples of Aurora; five grandchildren, Ania Jones, Keith Peoples Jr., Averi Peoples, Chyneshia Williams and Alfred Moore, Jr.; seven great-grandchildren, Keyon, La'nia, Lavon, Lamareon, Miauna, Sari and Sean.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Albert Williams; brother, Fred Peoples; sister, Priscilla Peoples; two daughters, Chynita and Nedra Williams; and also her two grandchildren, Andrew and Adrian Peoples.
Funeral services for Yvonne Williams will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Pavey Chapel C.M.E. 1004 South 10th Street in Mt. Vernon with Pastor Jeffrey Campbell officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Woodlawn.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the church.
