MT. VERNON —
Margaret L. York, 77, of Mt. Vernon, passed away at 8:18 am. Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at Crossroads Community Hospital in Mt. Vernon. She was born Tuesday, April 16, 1935, in Belle Rive, to Arthur and Ora (Sink) McKay.
She married Billie Joe York on Dec. 3, 1949, in Morganfield, Ky., and he preceded her in death on Oct. 17, 2010.
Margaret worked in customer service for Joy Mining Machinery for 29 years and was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Mt. Vernon.
She is survived by a daughter, Diane Lentz of Mt. Vernon; a son, Stan York and wife Diana of Henning, Tenn.; grandchildren Jeff Hicks, Chris York of Tennessee and Michael York and wife Chrystal of Tennessee; great-grandchildren Kelsey, Shelby and Elizabeth Grace Hicks and Ryan and Jacob York; a sister, Shirley Kite of Mt. Vernon; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Her parents; her husband; one infant son, Duane; and one sister, Pauline McKay, preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Mt. Vernon, with pastor Gary Ryden officiating. Interment will follow at Bethel Memorial Cemetery in Mt. Vernon.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
