James Loyd "Jim" Friemann, 76, of Mt. Vernon, died 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, at his home in Mt. Vernon.
He was born Saturday, April 4, 1936, in Collinsville, the son of George Francis and Nina Iona (Rednour) Friemann.
He is survived by his daughters, Jennifer Laurice Wilson and husband Jeff of Corrales, N.M., and Marie Katherine Friemann of Austin, Texas; two grandchildren, Eva and Arlo Wilson of Corrales, N.M.; two brothers, George Friemann and wife Thelma of Bunker Hill and Jerry Friemann of Collinsville; two sisters, Evalyn Hook and husband Bill of Collinsville; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
His parents preceded him in death.
Jim graduated from Collinsville High School in 1954, held a bachelor of arts degree and a masters in business administration degree and served as a computer systems analyst in the U.S. Air Force as an airman and civil service employee for 34 years. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Vernon and the Knights of Columbus Council 2964 in Mt. Vernon.
Visitation and viewing will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with funeral mass conducted by Father John Iffert to follow at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 115 N. 15th St., Mt. Vernon.
In honor of his wishes, he will be cremated and entombment will be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis with full military honors.
For those who wish, memorials may be given to the St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Vernon or to St. Mary Catholic School in Mt. Vernon and will be accepted at the funeral home or mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864.
