Linda Sue Hulbert, age 76, of Mt. Vernon and a former resident of Bluford, passed away 3:55 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, at her home in Mt. Vernon.
Linda was born Nov. 25, 1936, in Mt. Vernon, the daughter of Paul A. and Jennie L. (Kern) Lewis. She married Arthur Lee Hulbert Aug. 14, 1954, in Nashville, and he survives in Mt. Vernon.
Mrs. Hulbert was a past member of the Park Avenue Baptist Church. She worked in the office at Uncle Charlie's Meat Company, and later was a customer service representative at Wal-Mart until her retirement. Linda was a devoted wife and mother. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with all of her heart. Linda loved working in her yard, growing flowers, humming birds and playing dominos.
She is survived by her husband, Art Hulbert of Mt. Vernon; six children, Mitzi Thomas and husband Homer of Burleson, Texas, Bob Hulbert and wife Kathy of Mt. Vernon, Mike Hulbert and wife Marlene of Murietta Calif., Susan Venters and husband Curtis of Fairfield, Steve Hulbert and wife Karen of Bedford, Ind., and James Hulbert and wife Carrie of Warrensburg, Mo.; two sisters, Juanita Gill and husband Larry of Mt. Vernon and Sara Claxton-Lewis of Pekin, Ind.; two brothers, Paul Lewis Jr. of St. Paul, Minn., and Charles Lewis of Bluford; 19 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Newell Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with Rob Hulbert officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Woodlawn.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the service time on Saturday at the funeral home.
For those who wish, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and will be accepted at the funeral home.
