Mony Alan Brown, 56, of Mt. Vernon, died 6:12 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at Crossroads Community Hospital in Mt. Vernon, surrounded by his family.
He was born Friday, Jan. 4, 1957, in Benton, the son of Roy A. and Shirley (McBride) Brown. He married Lisa Isett in the Bridal Cave at Camdenton, Mo. on Oct. 14, 1995.
Mony was an area maintenance worker for Motel 6. He played bass and was a vocalist in several local bands. He loved fishing and woodworking and was an avid certified SCUBA diver. He was a member of the Mt. Vernon Gun and Sportsman Club and was a member of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by parents, Roy and Shirley Brown of Benton; wife, Lisa Brown of Mt. Vernon; two brothers, Keith Brown and wife Sharon of Mt. Vernon and Ross Brown and wife Debbie of Mt. Vernon; sister, Rorie Palmer and husband Roger of Mt. Vernon; two nieces, Felicia Savage of Ina and Emily Palmer of Mt. Vernon; nephews, Jim Lynch of Evansville, Ind., Nick Lynch and wife Amy of Evansville, Ind., Jared Palmer of Mt. Vernon and Russell Brown and wife Angela of Mt. Vernon; brother-in-law, Gene Isett and wife Tonya of Mt. Vernon; mother-in-law, Nona Elliott of Mt. Vernon; and father-in-law, Richard Isett and wife Neva of Salem.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ethna and Myrtle McBride and Alonzo and Maggie Brown; sister, Cristi Brown; grandmother, Florence McBride; and father-in-law, Jackie Paul Elliott.
Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with the Rev. Merle Fullerton officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
