Dr. Robert Stanley, 60, of Mt. Vernon, died 3:14 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at Crossroads Community Hospital in Mt. Vernon, with friends and family nearby after an extended illness.
He was born Friday, Aug. 1, 1952, in Dayton, Ohio, the son of Reuben and Betty (Finerer) Stanley. He married Carolyn Spicer on June 27, 1986, in Miamisburg, Ohio.
"Dr. Bob" was a graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity, was a graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic and served in the U.S. Army. He practiced as a chiropractor in Mt. Vernon at Windy Hill Chiropractic from 1992 to 2012. He enjoyed his profession and made many friends among his patients in the Mt. Vernon area. He enjoyed gourmet cooking, gardening, travel and music. He was of the Presbyterian faith and will be dearly, fondly and lovingly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Carolyn Stanley of Mt. Vernon; three sons, Chris Stanley of Mt. Vernon, Justin Stanley of Mt. Vernon and Matthew Stanley of Mt. Vernon; and brother, Dr. David Stanley, M.D. and wife Olga of Columbus, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Fairmount Presbyterian Church in Kettering, Ohio. Interment will be at David's Cemetery in Kettering, Ohio.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. tonight at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Morning visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. Saturday at Fairmount Presbyterian Church in Kettering, Ohio.
For those who wish, memorials may be given to Siteman Cancer Center and will be accepted at the funeral home or mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864.
