MT. VERNON — —
Bee Modert Hale, of Bonnie, passed away Thursday Nov. 1, 2012, at Nature Trail Nursing Home in Mt. Vernon. He was 86 years old.
He was born in Bonnie, on Nov. 13, 1925, to Fern Locher Hale and Albert Hale. He married Betty L. Leffler on Dec. 1, 1946, in Bonnie; and she preceded him in death on April 4, 1989.
Mr. Hale loved the Lord with all of his heart and was a lifelong member of the Bonnie Methodist Church. He was a lay minister in several nursing homes and would speak on occasion at church during the pastor’s absence. He served his country in World War II in the United States Army from Jan. 19, 1944, to Feb. 25, 1946, in the European African Middle Eastern Operations. Mr. Hale was a welder and retired from National Mine Service Company in Nashville. He loved roller skating and riding his bicycle.
Mr. Hale is survived by his daughters, Brenda Allen and husband Buddy of Bonnie and Beverly Thouvenin and husband Wayne of Walnut Hill; grandchildren, Twana Dunbar and husband Jay of Woodlawn, Terry Allen and wife Michelle, Todd Allen and wife Gwen, Travis Allen and wife Angel, all of Bonnie, Danny Lowery and wife Kim of Waltonville, Julie (Lowery) Daly, David Lowery and wife Annie, all of Mt. Vernon, Matthew Thouvenin and wife Leigh, Josh Thouvenin and Luke Thouvenin and wife Joann; great-grandkids, Kirk and Klay Dunbar, Kelsey, Emilea and Rylee Allen, Maelee, Wyatt, Briar and Cloe Allen, Jake Allen, Brianna Hug and husband Kyle, Ashley, Emma, Sophie and Abigail Meritt, Brandon and Lauren Lowery and Hannah, Ava, Samuel and Isabel Lowery; great-great-granddaughter, Kynidee Hug; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; sister, Mildred Beckman; and brothers, Marion “Mud Hen” Hale and Bert Hale.
Funeral services for Mr. Hale were held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, at the Johnston Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with the Rev. Eddie Hale and the Rev. Leland Hale officiating. Burial followed at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Woodlawn. Military rites were conducted by Mt. Vernon American Legion Post 141. Visitation for Mr. Hale was held from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at the Johnston Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
