Dale Wayne Williams, 60, of Waltonville, passed away 7 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, at his home in Waltonville.
Dale was born on May 24, 1952, in Mt. Vernon, the son of Max Perry and Ruth Marjorie (Hartley) Williams. He married Carol Sanders on July 6, 1974, in Mt. Vernon, and she survives in Waltonville .
Mr. Williams was a carpenter and life-long farmer. He graduated from Waltonville High School in 1970, and then attended SIU Carbondale where he earned a bachelor's degree in Ag Business, graduating in 1974. Dale was general superintendent of the Jefferson County Youth Fair from 1979 until 2002. He was a member of the Southern Illinois Beef Association where he served as treasurer for many years. He was of the Christian faith, having been a member of the Waltonville Universalist Church.
Dale is survived by his wife, Carol Williams of Waltonville; daughter, Kari Williams of Centralia; two sons, Aaron Williams and wife Jami of Waltonville and Justin Williams and wife Lauren of Mulkeytown; brother, Alan Williams and wife Kathy of Waltonville; brother-in-law, Michael Sanders and wife Kathy of Topinabee, Mich.; sister-in-law, Amy and husband Glenn Goforth of Troy; two aunts, Doris Slater of Mt. Vernon and Freda Joy of Ina; and also several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one infant sister, Carol Jean Williams.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Newell Funeral Home in Waltonville with Dr. Michael Sanders officiating. Interment will follow at Knob Prairie Cemetery in Waltonville.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Newell Funeral Home in Waltonville.
