MT. VERNON —
June L. “Judy” Kirkland, 78, of Mt. Vernon, passed away at 8:40 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mt. Vernon.
She was born Friday, July 13, 1934, in Mt. Vernon, to James Cassell Rogers and Flora D’Ella (Harlow) Rogers.
She was a licensed practical nurse at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Marion until retiring.
Judy is survived by two sons, Bruce. W. Kirkland and wife Carol of Tuscon, Ariz., and Randy Kirkland and wife Barbara of Imperial, Mo.; three daughters, Valinda Jensen and husband Paul of Paoli, Ind., Robyn Pather and husband Daniel of Marion and D’Ella Ratley and husband Shawn of Evansville; three sisters, Jean Shelton and husband George of Opdyke, D’Ella Scott and husband Jim of Mt. Vernon and Dorothy Oliver of Phoenix, Ariz.; four brothers, Jimmy Rogers of New Orleans, La., Richard Rogers and wife Mary of Springfield, Cassell Rogers and wife Judy of Valier and Michael Rogers of Centralia; 11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Her parents preceded her in death.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn with pastor Danny Cash officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
