Mattie Lee Filberth, 93, of Mt. Vernon, passed away 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at Doctors Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Salem.
Mattie Lee was born Nov. 26, 1919, in Salem, N.M., to Felix and Clara (Ealy) Wagoner. Mattie Lee married Dr. Glen W. Filberth Oct. 9, 1943, and he preceded her in death in 2007.
She worked as a physician’s assistant. Mattie Lee was a member of the Elks Club and United Methodist Church in Mt. Vernon.
Mattie Lee is survived by her daughter, Janet Fryar of Mt. Vernon; three sons, Bill Filberth (Theresa) of Houston, Texas, Bob Filberth (Luretta) of San Antonio and Dr. Jim Filberth (Janet) of Meriden, Kan.; one sister, Myrena Tate of Lewisburg, Tenn.; nine grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Mattie was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Dale; and her parents.
Cremation rites were accorded and no local services are planned. Inurnment will be scheduled at a later date in Florida.
Hosselton Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
