Lola Belle Mullinax, 92, of Dix, passed away Wednesday morning, Jan. 2, 2013, at her home.
She was born on May 2, 1920, in Dix, the daughter of George W. and Clara Jane (Boggs) Quarterman. On Dec. 2, 1939, at Dix Christian Church, she married Virgil Mullinax, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 10, 1979.
She was a cook at Rome Grade School, then worked for the Brown Shoe Factory for many years, before working for the Jeffersonian Nursing Home.
Mrs. Mullinax attended Dix High School and graduated Mt. Vernon Township High School. She enjoyed quilting, and gave away many of her quilts to friends and family. She loved her family and delighted in her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of Antioch Christian Church since 1980, and was a very active member.
She is survived by one son, David Mullinax and wife Mary of Texico; two grandchildren, Rodney Mullinax and wife Jana of Texico and Kathy Sherwin and husband Paul of Kell; and four great-grandchildren, Quinton and Elias Mullinax of Texico and Tabitha and Sydney Sherwin of Kell.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, William Quarterman and Earl Quarterman; and eight sisters, Lucy Craig, Mabel Quarterman, Grace Quarterman, Almeda Quarterman, Alice Moore, Catherine Bell, Anna Quarterman and Myra Harris.
Funeral services for Mrs. Mullinax will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Osborn Funeral Home in Dix with Jonathan Schnautz officiating. Burial will follow at Zion Grove (County Line) Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
