MT. VERNON —
Joe Frank Bullock, 85, of Woodlawn, died 9 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at his home in Woodlawn.
He was born Monday, April 25, 1927, in Mt. Vernon, son of David and Altha (Dixon) Bullock.
Joe Frank was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a heavy equipment operator working in the construction field and worked for Ford Motor Company in Chicago Heights as a tool and die setter for 11 years. He was a member of Operating Engineers Local 520. He loved watching boxing and listening to old time radio programs and in his retirement he enjoyed raising a vegetable garden and selling his produce at local farmers markets. He was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by son, Jack D. Bullock of Mt. Vernon; stepdaughter, T.J. Chapman of Branson, Mo.; brother, Jerry Bullock and wife Vickie of Mt. Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents; one son, Jeffrey Carl Bullock; five brothers, Max, Ralph, Russell, William and Sherman Bullock; and one sister, Mary Lou Moore.
Graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Woodlawn. Interment will be at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Woodlawn.
In honor of his wishes, there will be no visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association and will be accepted at the funeral home or mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864.
