Ruby Madeline (Brake) Lemke, 90, of Dahlgren, passed away at 6:45 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at her daughter’s residence near Dahlgren.
She was born March 14, 1922, in rural Dahlgren, the daughter of Arlie and Floy (Kohl) Brake. She married Ernie Lemke on Sept. 16, 1940, in Clayton, Mo. and he preceded her in death on Oct. 9, 1999.
She was a lifelong member of Middle Creek Baptist Church. She was a housewife who enjoyed quilting and gardening.
She is survived by two daughters, Marie (Jerry) Barr of Dahlgren and Minnie (Jim) Allen of Smyrna, Tenn.; one son, Everett (Diana) Lemke of Dahlgren; grandchildren, Leon Phillips, Keith (Becky) Barr, Todd (Vicki) Butler, Joshua (Stephanie) Lemke and Evana (Jason) Sandusky; great-grandchildren, Jesse (Amber) Phillips, Justin (Nikki) Phillips, Mariah and Caitlyn Barr, Logan, Reagan and Brock Butler, Nathaniel, Gabby, Daniel, A.J., Joel, Michelle and Natalie Lemke and Jaycee and Elijah Sandusky; one great-great-grandchild, Avery Phillips; sisters, Ruth Bowers, Katherine Schnicker, Imogene Lemke and Mary Miller; sisters-in-law, Maxine Brake and Carolyn Brake; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ernie Lemke; son-in-law, John Butler; grandchild, Cindy Phillips; brothers, Robert and Charles Brake and two infant brothers; and one sister.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Gholson Funeral Home in Dahlgren with the Rev. Donnie Rector officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. tonight at the Gholson Funeral Home in Dahlgren.
Memorials may be given to the Cindy Phillips Scholarship Fund or Down Syndrome Association of Greater St. Louis (DSAGSL) and will be accepted at Gholson Funeral Home.
