Alma Marie Kane, 94, of Broughton, passed away at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado.
Alma was born Jan. 11, 1919, in Eldorado, to the late Samuel James and Thula D. (Builderback) Ritchey. On Oct. 19, 1940, she married Hugh Martin Kane, who preceded her in death. Alma was a homemaker, supervisor and Village Clerk in Broughton. She was a member of the Broughton First Baptist Church for 72 years.
She is survived by a daughter, Ruth Ellen Gholson of Broughton; grandchildren, Meredith Denise Clough of Charleston and Ashley Kane (Aimee) Gholson of Mattoon; and great-grandchildren, Katelyn and Chase.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Helen Edwards; and three sisters, Mary Elizabeth Scherrer, Hazel Bernice Chandler and Edna Ruth Ritchey.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home in Eldorado with the Rev. David Angelly officiating. Burial will be in Hickory Hill Cemetery in Broughton.
