MT. VERNON — —
Avonelle E. Richardson, 94, of Mt. Vernon and formerly of Opdyke, died at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at White Oak Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Mt. Vernon.
She was born on Jan. 11, 1919, in Jefferson County, a daughter of Alva L. and Zota Ellen (Russell) Estes.
She is survived by two sons, Dennis M. Richardson and wife Pam of Mt. Vernon, and Glen S. Richardson and wife Sara of Mt. Vernon; two daughters, Karen Frederick and husband Randy of Macungie, Penn., and Deena Peterson and husband Dean of Woodlawn; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Harl and Wayne Estes; and two sisters, Lee Ellen Henderson and Evelyn Hottensen.
Avonelle was a homemaker, a member of Jefferson County Homemakers Extension, the Town & Country Homemakers Unit and Logan Street Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with the Rev. Jimmy Bledsoe officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn.
Visitation will be held from noon until the service time Friday at the funeral home.
For those who wish, memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society and to the Shriner's Children's Hospital and will be accepted at the funeral home or mailed to the funeral home.
