MT. VERNON —
Dorothy I. DeMent, 93, of Mt. Vernon, died 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, at Residential Living Center in Mt. Vernon.
She was born Monday, May 12, 1919, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Elmer T. and Edith (Oliver) Price. She married Donald H. DeMent on Oct. 22, 1939.
Dorothy was a Mt. Vernon Township High School graduate, Class of 1936, a sales clerk at the Mt. Vernon Mammoth Department Store for 30 years before retiring and a spiritually strong and faithful member of Logan Street Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon. And she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Don DeMent of Mt. Vernon; daughters, Janice Dusharme and husband Jim of Woodlawn and Sue Marlow and husband Mike of Huffman, Texas; daughter-in-law, Kathy DeMent of Barrington; grandchildren, Michelle DeBiase and husband Brian of Aurora, Angie Colebar and husband Wes of Kirkwood, Mo., Stacy Marlow of Husfman, Texas., and Courtney Clark and husband Kris of Joshua, Texas; great-grandchildren, Adrianne Perkins and husband Will of Humble, Texas, Allyson DeMent of Dayton, Texas, Tyler Marlow, Troy Simmons and Haley Simmons of Huffman, Texas, Jason DeBiase and Katherine DeBaise of Aurora, Noah Colebar and Will Colebar of Kirkwood, Mo. and Karlee Clark and Turner Clark of Joshua, Texas; brothers, Harold Price and wife Thelma of Paducah, Ky. and Burell Price of Lexington, Ky.; sisters, Betty June Border of O’Fallon, Mo. and Pat Cox of Omaha, Neb.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Bill DeMent; grandson, Mike DeMent; sister, Doris McGuire; and infant granddaughter, Shannon Marlow.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with the Rev. Merle Fullerton officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn.
Visitation will be held 9 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
