Golda F. (Richards) Smith, 95, of Belle Rive, died at 11:31 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at Countryside Manor in Mt. Vernon.
She was born May 22, 1917, in Wayne County, daughter of William and Della (Green) Browder. She married Noel Richards and he preceded her in death in 1969. She later married Earl Smith and he preceded her in death in 1996.
She enjoyed gardening and loved flowers. She was a homemaker. She loved music, playing the piano and singing. Most of all, she loved the Lord and her family. She was a lifetime member of Long Prairie Baptist Church.
She is survived by sons, Paul (wife Iris) Richards of Belle Rive, Gene (wife Carole) Richards of Belle Rive and Dennis (wife Colleen) Richards of Belle Rive; stepsons, Gary (wife Angie) Smith of Little Rock, Ark. and Donnie (wife Reva) Smith of Wayne City; daughters, Joan (husband Russell (Pete)) Clark of Belle Rive and Janet (husband Donald) Scrivner of Belle Rive; stepdaughter, Glenda (husband Verdon) Wood of Wayne City; grandchildren, Frank (LaDonna) Richards, Paula (Steve) Brinkman, Kevin (Kim) Richards, Deborah (Edward) Wilkerson, Gene (Tiffany) Clark, Donna (Gene) Leffingwell, David (Angie) Clark, Jeffery (Marsha) Richards, Dawn Winkler, Jason (Lindi) Richards, Jessica (Treavor) Wilson, Daniel (Angi) Scrivner and Rebecca (James) Richards; 37 great-grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by parents; husbands; brothers, Lot, Edgar and Leroy Browder; sisters, Virginia Myers and Nellie Buchanan; a great-grandchild; and daughter, Joyce Richards.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at Belle Rive Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard McCormick, the Rev. Terry Buchanan and the Rev. Jeremy Hamson officating. Interment was at Flint Cemetery in Belle Rive.
Visitation was held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, at Gholson Funeral Home in Dahlgren. Also visitation was held from 10 a.m. until service time at the church on Saturday, Dec. 8.
