Ruth Arlene White, 87, of Ballwin, Mo, formerly of Mt. Vernon, died at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, at Christian Hospital Northeast in Florissant, Mo.
She was born Friday, Sept. 11, 1925, in Rochelle, daughter of Hans Peter and Inger Olena (Larson) Hansen. She married Eugene Robert White on Aug. 28, 1946, in Rochelle, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 21, 1996.
Ruth was a homemaker. She loved flowers and playing Bingo. She was a member of Park Avenue Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon.
She is survived by her children, Carol Joann Arczynski of Florissant, Mo., Donna Van Leuven and husband Richard of Ballwin, Mo., Mel White of St. Louis, Linda Jackson and husband Ed of Mesa, Ariz. And Sherie White of St. Charles, Mo.; 12 grandchildren, Debbie, Mary, Leona, Mark, Matt, Trula, Audra, Sheila, Jason, Brandon, Antoinette and Hal; two sisters, Bernice Schoenholz and husband Howard of Pawpaw and Theresa Blee of Tampa, Fla.; 19 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, Clifford Hansen; and one sister, Hazel Quinn.
Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with the Rev. Gary Davenport officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn.
Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
