George A. Mulch, 103, of Mt. Vernon, died at 3:45 a.m. Monday, March 4, 2013, at Mt. Vernon Countryside Manor in Mt. Vernon.
He was born Nov. 15, 1909, in Waverly, the son of Benjamine Frank and Mary Ella (Miner) Mulch. On Feb. 3, 1930, in Jefferson County, he married Mary A. Simmons, and she preceded him in death on June 28, 1993.
Mr. Mulch was a farmer and had worked for Mt. Vernon Car Manufacturing Company.
He is survived by one son, Daniel D. Mulch and wife Darlene of Mt. Vernon; two daughters, Dixie Stonecipher of Texico and Sarah Conner Prather and husband John of Mt. Vernon; ten grandchildren, Dr. Larry Stonecipher and wife Brenda of Springfield, James Stonecipher and wife Lynn of Bloomington, John Stonecipher and wife Jarie of Newman, Kathie Dodson and husband Larry of Kell, Roger Mulch of Mt. Vernon, Donna Mellott and husband Bill of Mt. Vernon, Jerry Conner and wife Mila of New York, Dianna Kimbro and husband Brian of Mulkeytown, Mary Orcutt and husband Phil of Benton and Ronnie Conner of Chicago; 21 great-grandchildren; and 19 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and two sons-in-law, Paul Stonecipher and Robert Conner.
Funeral services for Mr. Mulch will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Osborn Funeral Home in Dix with the Rev. Elton Storey officiating. Burial will follow at East Salem Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Saturday.
