Lottie Rainey

Lottie Rainey, 87 years, 2 months and 26 days, of Mt. Vernon, passed away at 10:23 a.m. Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at her home in Mt. Vernon.

She was born in Jefferson County on Monday, Dec. 11, 1922, a daughter of Charles and Elsie (Cates) Clark. She married Gerald Rainey on March 22, 1939, in Mt. Vernon.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon with the Rev. Tim Reynolds officiating. Interment will follow.

There will be no visitation.

Mrs. Rainey is survived by her husband, Gerald Rainey of Mt. Vernon; a son, David Neal Rainey and special friend Mary Hargett of Benton; six grandsons, Chris Rainey and wife Marcia of New Jersey, Chuck Rainey of California, Matthew Rainey of Memphis, Tenn., David Rainey and wife Lisa of Sesser, Doug Rainey of Louisville, Ky., and Daniel Rainey and wife Crystal of West Frankfort; 13 great-grandchildren; four great- great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Her parents; one son, Albert Richard Rainey; a daughter-in-law, Sue Rainey; four brothers; and two sisters, preceded her in death.

Lottie worked for International Shoe Factory and was a waitress at various Mt. Vernon restaurants: Jones Snack Bar, Rusty’s and DeMent’s. She attended Casey Avenue Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon and sang in the church choir.
