Virginia H. Rutherford, 92, of Mt. Vernon, died at 3:10 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at her home.
She was born Thursday, Dec. 20, 1917, in Gillespie, the daughter of Bruce and Caroline Elizabeth (Gudehus) Huffmaster. She married Del Rutherford in St. Louis, Mo. May 17, 1941, and he preceded her in death June 26, 1990.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with the Rev. David Eadie officiating.
Visitation will be from noon until service time at the funeral home.
Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon.
Virginia is survived by two sons, Dee Rutherford of Mt. Vernon and Bruce Rutherford and wife Betty of Houston, Texas; three grandchildren, Ian Rutherford and wife Nedra of Kansas City, Mo. and Marin and Blake Rutherford of San Marino, Calif.; six great-grandchildren, Simeon, Jedidiah, Bethany, Isreal, Zoie and Zephyia Rutherford; and two nieces, Barbara Watt Bradley of St. Paul, Minn. and Carrie Watt Ziegler of Elmira, N.Y.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two sisters, Betty Zelsman and Darlynn Watt.
Ginny was a homemaker and member of First United Methodist Church in Mt. Vernon.
