MT. VERNON — Larry Richards, 67, Mt. Vernon, passed away at 3:50 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at St. Mary's Health Center in St. Louis.

He was born in McLeansboro on Monday, June 22, 1942, the son of Roscoe and Hazel (Edmison) Richards.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Archie L. Sanders Memorial Chapel at Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City; the Rev. Richard McCormick will officiate. Interment will follow at Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. tonight at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.

Larry is survived by three sisters, Lois Yarbor and husband John of Evansville, Ind., Doris Dismore of Mt. Vernon and Christie Blasdel of Herrin; and several nieces and nephews.

His parents preceded him in death.

As a young man, Larry worked on the family farm; he later worked for Jefferson County Comprehensive Services in the maintenance department and was of the Baptist faith.

For those who wish, memorials may be given to the Jefferson County Comprehensive Services and will be accepted at the funeral home or mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864.
