Kenneth C. Mudd, 89, of Mt. Vernon, passed away at 3:54 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009, at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.
He was born in Stronghurst, on Saturday, April 24, 1920, a son of Roy and Myrtle (Bainter) Mudd. He married Marjorie Burford on March 6, 1942, in Cameron.
In honor of his wishes he will be cremated and there will be no public services.
Mr. Mudd is survived by his wife, Marjorie Mudd of Mt. Vernon; daughter, Kendra Peterson and husband Dale of Mt. Vernon; three grandchildren, Julie Garrison of Mt. Vernon, Jolynn Kennedy and husband Michael of Chicago and Kenneth Filer of Urbana; four great-grandchildren, Katie, Alexandra and Lily Kennedy and Shayna Sawyers; and several nieces and nephews.
His parents; one daughter, Connie Filer; and three sisters preceded him in death.
Kenneth served as a tech sergeant with the 8th Air Force during World War II, was an engineer at the international division of Magic Chef Appliance Company, was a member of First Christian Church in Galesburg and was a past member of the Galesburg Amateur Radio Club.
