Phyllis Harper, 81, of Whittington, died at 9:09 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009, at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.
She was born July 31, 1928, in Xenia to Phillip and Lizzie (Shannon) Fatheree. She married Forest Harper on May 9, 1947, in Perryville, Mo. Mrs.
Harper was a homemaker.
She is survived by one son, Ronnie Harper of Whittington; one daughter, Carolyn Nixon of Peoria; two grandsons, Samuel and wife Jenny and Brian; two great-granddaughters, Samantha and Brooklyn; and one brother, Bill Fatheree of Mt. Vernon.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Gary; and one sister, LaFern Hawkins.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Johnston Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with the Rev. Mark Minor and the Rev. Greg Shelton officiating. Interment will follow in the East Lawn Cemetery in Salem.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home in Mt. Vernon where friends may call.
