Juanita Pressgrove

On Oct. 25, 2009 our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Juanita Pressgrove left us to be with her heavenly Father for eternity.

She was born in Wayne County on Oct. 23, 1914, to Ernest and Lily (Zepplin) Garrison. She married John Edward Pressgrove on Aug. 1, 1933, in Mt. Vernon, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 15, 1996.



They were blessed with one son, Ronald and wife Lynn, and two daughters, Shirley Pressgrove and Brenda Dare. She had six grandchildren, John, Rodney and Ryan and wife Jodi Pressgrove, Alan and wife Kim Dare, Anita and husband Chuck Allen and Scott and wife Linda Ross; eight great-grandchildren, Darcy and Emma Ross, Chris and Erin Dare, Carley and Charley Allen and Riley and Rilan Pressgrove. She is also survived by one brother, Howard and wife Murlene Garrison.



She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter, Marilyn Rice; son-in-law, Marvin Dare; three brothers Raleigh, Harold and West Garrison; and three sisters, Dorothy Crask, Eva Borland and Audrey Render.



She was owner and operator of Juanita’s Beauty Salon and later ran Hobbie House Ceramics also in Mt. Vernon and she attended First Baptist Church of Woodlawn until failing health.



Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. tonight at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.



Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Steve Hamson officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn.



Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association or to American Cancer Society and will be accepted at the funeral home, or from the online obituary at www.hugheyfuneralhome1969.com, or mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864.
