Dorothy Juanita Talbert, 93, of Mt. Vernon, passed away at 4:25 a.m. Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.
She was born in Wayne County on Sept. 6, 1916, a daughter of Sylvester and Emma Josephine (Burgess) Ward. She married Dellos Anderson Talbert in Wayne County; he preceded her in death on May 15, 1998.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with the Rev. Wendell Garrison officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Talbert is survived by two sons, Dale L. Talbert and wife Helen of Mt. Vernon and Vicky J. Talbert and wife Linda of Waltonville; four grandchildren, Mary Beth Arnold and husband Mitch of Paxton, Paula Jo Eckelberry and husband Joe of Woodlawn, Alan Lee Talbert and wife Paula of Waltonville and Lori Eastham and husband Webb of Waltonville; 12 great-grandchildren, Emily Schaubert, Jarod Talbert, Jessica Talbert, Joey Talbert, Ashley Terry, Brian Terry, Kyle Meador, Ryan Meador, Tyler Eckelberry, Sophie Eastham, Mandy and Stacey; and three nephews.
Her parents, husband and five brothers preceded her in death.
Dorothy was owner and operator of Fashion 220 Cosmetic Studio in Mt. Vernon and was a manager and sales clerk at several shoe stores in the Mt. Vernon area. She was a member of Logan Street Baptist Church and B & PW Club for 30 years.
