Virginia L. Buchele, age 92, of Boulder, died Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009, at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.
She was born in Boulder on April 7, 1917, a daughter of Dwight and Violetta (Huffman) Sanders. She married Harold Buchele on April 19, 1936, at the Boulder Methodist Church; he preceded her in death on Dec. 10, 1985.
Mrs. Buchele is survived by two daughters, Nina Buchele of Boulder and Karen and husband Tom Burleyson of Centralia; two sons, Dennis Buchele and wife Jane and Ray Buchele and wife Lucy, all of Carlyle; 11 grandchildren, Kelly and husband John Westcott, Kris and husband Thom Ricks, Tami Courtial, Rob and wife Julie Courtial, Kim and husband John Cruise, Mike and wife Janice Buchele, Travis Burleyson and fiancé Nikki Taylor, Brandon Burleyson and wife Staci, Jeff Buchele and wife Renee, Dana Rakers and husband Jon and Traci Garner and husband Jason; 22 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Nicholas Courtial.
Mrs. Buchele was a homemaker and the oldest female member of the Boulder Methodist Church where she had been on the Board of Trustees, former pianist and a member of the Ladies Aid. She was also a trustee for Pritchett Cemetery near Boulder.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at the Boulder Methodist Church with the Rev. Clayton Coffey officiating. Interment will follow in Pritchett Cemetery.
Friends may call at Zieren Day Funeral Home in Carlyle on tonight from 4 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 9 a.m. until service time.
Memorials dedicated to Mrs. Buchele are suggested to Pritchett Cemetery and will be received at the funeral home.
