William Boyer

William Joseph Boyer was born April 9, 1927, in Benton to Willie and Mary (Gholson) Boyer. He passed from this life Nov. 4, 2009.



He is survived by his wife, Jeanette; daughter Pam; sons Bill Jr., Dennis and Sam; and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.



He was preceded in death by his sister, Martha Boyer Epperson.



Bill was the founder of Boyer Coffee Company, Inc., in 1967 and despite various setbacks has maintained a successful business for 40-plus years.

Since the inception of his business, Bill has had an ongoing relationship with the Denver Rescue Mission — formerly called Jesus Saves.



For many years Bill was a member of University Hills Baptist Church, located in Denver, but more recently a member of Cornerstone Church of Lone Tree, Colo. Bill entered the U.S. Navy in May 1944 and was honorably discharged in May 1946 after serving aboard the USS Phoenix.



Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at University Hills Baptist Church in Denver.



Graveside services will be held at 12 p.m. Wednesday at IOOF Cemetery (Oddfellows) in McLeansboro with the Rev. Robert Sefried officiating.



Military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post 106 of McLeansboro.



Local visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro.



In lieu of flowers, please make any contributions to the Denver Rescue Mission, P.O. Box 5206, Denver, CO 80217, or to Exempla Lutheran Hospice at Collier Hospice Center, 3210 Lutheran Parkway, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033.



Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro is in charge of local arrangements.
