Millie Frances Skelton, 84, of Mt. Vernon, passed away at 2:24 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at St. Louis University Hospital.
She was born in Dale on Tuesday, June 16, 1925, a daughter of Claude Francis and Betty Irene (Biggerstaff) Campbell. She married Enoch C. "Red" Skelton on Dec. 12, 1941, in St. Louis, and he preceded her in death on June 7, 2006.
Graveside memorial services and inurnment will be held at at later date at New Hickory Hill Cemetery in Broughton with the Rev. Jesse Allen officiating.
In honor of her wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service.
Mrs. Skelton is survived by special friend, Lawrence Bragg of Belle Rive; son, Dennis J. Skelton and wife Beverly of Scheller; grandson, Chase Skelton of Schelle; granddaughter, Brittani Skelton of Nason; two step-grandchildren, Jeremy Gossett and wife Jennifer of Mt. Vernon and Josh Gossett of Sesser; and four step-great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Cody, Grady and Chasity.
Her parents and her husband preceded her in death.
Millie was a nurse and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1376 and the Ladies Auxiliary to Mt. Vernon American Legion Post 141.
