Maxine V. Funkhouser, 81, of Lemont, and formerly of Mt. Vernon, passed away at 12:45 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009, at Meadowbrook Manor in Bolingbrook.
She was born in Mt. Vernon on Thursday, Oct. 4, 1928, a daughter of Ira and Leona (Snow) Ramsey. She married Jerry Gene Funkhouser on Oct. 28, 1944, in Benton, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 27, 1988.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Cubb Prairie Cemetery in Jefferson County with Pastor Harold Whitlock officiating. Interment will follow.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
Mrs. Funkhouser is survived by two sons, Larry Funkhouser and wife Carol of Bonnie and Alan Terry Funkhouser of Lemont; two daughters, Sharon Eby of Lemont and Karla Whittiemore of Addison; a brother, Ira Gilbert Ramsey, Jr. of Nason; sister, Shelby Crockman of Benton; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Her parents; her husband; one son, Gary Funkhouser; one daughter, Sandra Burlison; one granddaughter, Melissa Braddy; and one great-grandson, Derek Burlison, preceded her in death.
Maxine worked at the Continental Distillery for 15 years and was of the Christian faith.
