Ricky Ellis

Ricky L. Ellis, 52, of Mt. Vernon, passed away at 10:38 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.



He was born in Hinsdale on Monday, Jan. 21, 1957, a son of Charles L. and Nina C. (Stelle) Ellis. He married Tammy Downes in 1975, and she preceded him in death in 2008. He married Cindy K. Ballard on Nov. 6, 1999, in Mt. Vernon.



There will be no funeral service. Burial of cremated remains will be held at a later date.



Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.



Ricky is survived by his parents, Charles and Nina Ellis of Mt. Vernon; wife, Cindy Ellis of Mt. Vernon; daughter, Leslie Ellis and fiancé John Brooks of Mt. Vernon; son, Cody James Ellis of Benton; stepdaugher, Linda Roach and husband Thomas of Mt. Vernon; a stepson, Billy Ballard of Mt. Vernon; three brothers, Bobby Ellis and wife Carla of Mt. Vernon, John Ellis and special friend Cathy Ryan of Mt. Vernon and Travis Ellis and wife Heather of Mt. Vernon; five sisters, Linda Robinson and Bobby Arnett of Mt. Vernon, Susan Bodine and husband Charles of Mt. Vernon, Stacy Ellis of Mt. Vernon, Jennifer Williams and husband Chris of Mt. Vernon and Amber Garcia and friend Alexis of Mt. Vernon; three step-grandchildren, Cristina, Alexis and Clayton Roach, all of Mt. Vernon; and 18 nieces and nephews.



His first wife, Tammy Greenwood, and his grandparents, Robert and Margie Ellis and Noah and Lillie Stelle, preceded him in death.



Ricky was a driver and dispatcher for American Cab Company in Mt. Vernon and had previously served in the U.S. Army.
