Charlene York, 80, of McLeansboro, passed away at 12:03 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Evansville, Ind.
She was born in Olney on July 21, 1929, a daughter of Otis and Fannie (Gallaher) Stacey. She married William “Brick” York on June 16, 1979, and he preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Rev. David Angelly officiating. Interment will follow at Smith Cemetery near Broughton.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
Mrs. York is survived by a son, David Tate and wife Darlene of Eldorado; daughters, Brenda Bean of Eldorado and Rhonda Grant and companion and friend John Laux of McLeansboro; six grandchildren, Becky Weigt of Eldorado, Beth Bean of Eldorado, Amy Tate of Eldorado, Shane Tate of Eldorado, Zachary Leaf of Olney and Summer Leaf of Olney; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one brother and one sister.
Mrs. York was a member of the Broughton Baptist Church.
