Laura Bourland

Laura Lena Elizabeth Bourland, 102, of Mt. Vernon, passed away at 12:25 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, at her daughter's home in Sebring, Fla.



She was born in Ridgway on Friday, Nov. 30, 1906, a daughter of William and Rebecca Ann (Causey) Ambrous. She married Wilburn Riley Bourland on Dec. 16, 1924, in Eldorado, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 17, 1997.



Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Glendale Cemetery in Fillmore with the Rev. Merle Fullerton officiating. Interment will follow.



Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.



Mrs. Bourland is survived by three sons, Wilburn Eugene Bourland of Cherokee Village, Ark., Cecil Bourland and wife Estelle of Mt. Vernon and Everett Bourland and wife Dee of Mt. Vernon; a daughter, Wilma Jean Reed and husband Louis of Sebring, Fla.; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; 10 step-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; several step-great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.



Her parents; one daughter, Deloris Bourland; one grandson; two granddaughters; two great-grandsons; and two great-granddaughters preceded her in death.





Laura was a cook at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield before retiring, was a member of Litchfield Rebekah Lodge and was of the Presbyterian faith.
