Donald “D.D.” Jackson

Donald “D.D.” Jackson, 72, of Wamac, passed away March 12, 2010, at his home.

He was born Jan. 18, 1938, in Centralia, the son of Joe Evans and Ida B. (Vick) Jackson. He married Elisabeth Fields on Feb. 14, 1959, in Centralia and she survives in Wamac.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Calumet Christian Church with John Willis officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the church.

Donald is survived by his wife; two daughters, Rene Aydt and husband Mark and Suzie Orrill, all of Centralia; granddaughter, Megan Lyke and husband Marty of West Point, Ga.; two grandsons, Tim Aydt and wife Kalani and Braeden Wilson, all of Centralia; great-granddaughter, Charlotte Lyke of West Point, Ga.; and three brothers, Robert Jackson and wife Bessie, Kenneth Jackson and wife Donna and John Jackson and wife Rose, all of Centralia.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, James Jackson and Billy Jackson; and two sisters, Louise Scoggins and Vernell Harting.

Donald enjoyed the outdoors, camping and fishing. He also liked gardening and Cardinals baseball. He worked 43 years for the railroad as a carmen welder. He was a member of the Calumet Christian Church in Centralia. The most important things in his life were his grandchildren and his great-granddaughter. He loved spending time with his family.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Calumet Christian Church and/or VNA Hospice.

Hillcrest Funeral Home and Cremation Center is in charge of arrangements.
