There are a lot of talented students at Mt. Vernon Township High School, and yet again some of those talents have been honored as the Vernois News, Vernois Yearbook and Alicia Sheldon received awards from the Southern Illinois School Press Association.
The Vernois News received the Blue Banner Award for the first time in 12 years; the Vernois Yearbook took the Golden Dozen Award for Yearbook Excellence for the eighth time out of nine years, a first place in photography and third place for divider design; and Sheldon — the editor in chief of the Vernois News — took first place in the feature story on-site writing competition.
To all the youth and their adult advisors who work to produce the quality publications and to Sheldon: Congratulations and a job well done!
