It’s time again to nominate those in our community for their long-standing service and commitment to our county.
The Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce has announced nominations for 2010 Senior Saints are currently being accepted. The dozen Saints will be added to the Senior Saints Hall of Fame, which is located in the Rolland W. Lewis Building at Veterans Park and honored in August at a dinner banquet.
“We’re honoring those all-stars in our community 65 years or older that have done the four things in the criteria — community service, love of country and community, and how they’ve embraced change. We’ll honor them in the middle of August at a banquet for them and their families to show our support of everything they’ve done in our community,” said Chamber Executive Director Brandon Bullard.
The task of choosing a Saint is not easy for the committee, which received about 18 nominations last year.
Bullard is encouraging those who have previously nominated someone for Senior Saint and was not chosen to do so again.
We, too, encourage the public to step up and recognize that someone who has gone above and beyond the call of duty to serve Jefferson County. After all, it is because of their commitment and sacrifice that has made the King City and the surrounding area what we all should be proud of.
