CENTRALIA —
Mt. Vernon’s boys soccer team ended its regular season with a win Thursday.
The Rams shut out Centralia 4-0. Braydon Riley scored Mt. Vernon’s only goal of the first half. Gerardo Juaristi, Anthony Reitz and Zach Swinnen all scored in the second half.
Mt. Vernon is 7-10 this season and plays at the Carbondale regional against the host team on Tuesday.
Boys Cross Country
South Seven Conference
The Rams placed second in the meet with a score of 32 Thursday.
Carbondale won the meet with a 30. Other team scores were: Marion 85, Centralia 120, Cahokia 129 and Althoff 139.
Mt. Vernon’s David Modert won the race with a time of 16:34. Other Rams results were: Jordan Wilemon sixth (17:14), Karson Hahn seventh (17:18), Daniel Flood eighth (17:18), Jake Wilson 10th (17:23), Brykell Patton 14th (17:37) and Ethan Badger 15th (17:41).
Jordan Hubbard led the Rams in the junior varsity race with a 42nd-place finish in a time of 19:18.
Mt. Vernon travels to Triad for the regional on Saturday, Oct. 20.
Girls Cross Country
South Seven
Conference meet
The Lady Rams placed fifth at the meet with a score of 110.
Carbondale won the team title with a 22. Other team scores were: Marion 62, Centralia 88, Althoff 96 and Cahokia 143.
Rachel Rexing led the Lady Rams with a 14th-place finish in a time of 23:18. Other Mt. Vernon results were: Camilla Bauer 15th (23:31), Zoe Mattingly 16th (23:34), Allie Skobel 31st (26:39) and Abby Mattingly 41st (41:06).
Mt. Vernon travels to the Triad regional on Saturday, Oct. 20.

Webber’s Ty Henderson was named Player of the Year in the conference for the fall season.
Alex Lynn and Lane Moser were also named to the conference’s first team. Koaltin Dye was honorable mention.
Freshman football
Game cancelled
Thursday’s matchup between Mt. Vernon and Centralia was cancelled, making the Rams this season’s South Seven Conference champions.
Mt. Vernon finished the conference season 5-0 and ends the year Thursday at home against Highland.
