Rend Lake College
INA — The Rend Lake College volleyball team lost in its home opener with Lake Land College Wednesday night in Ina.
RLC, coming off a lackluster weekend tourney, fell to the forearms of Lake Land's Brazilian, middle-hitting duo — Patricia Souza and Kassia Pento.
The Lady Warriors lost the first set 25-14 and were down 5-0 early in the second before sophomore Alex Bullock (McLeansboro) killed a shot to stop the Lady Laker streak. RLC lost the second set 25-13. Rend Lake put up a stand in the third set, willing a lead but unable to seal the deal as the visiting team from Mattoon overcame the deficit to win the set, 25-23, and the match.
Bullock led RLC in kills with seven while Kayla McLeod (Effingham) led in blocks with 2.5.
