NEW BADEN — Ryan Quick struck out 13 batters, but Ethan O'Neal picked up the victory Monday night as Mt. Vernon American Legion Post 141 defeated host New Baden 5-3 in the first game of a conference doubleheader.
Pierce Borah was 3-for-5, with all three hits being doubles, and he drove in three runs. Quick was 2 -for-5, while Ethan Gowler (two RBI), Dawson Verhines and Westin Mason all had a hit.
At press time, New Baden was winning the nightcap, 9-1.
